"What about Jesus?" --Oprah

Many people believe that there are many ways to heaven, including Oprah Wimphrey. But John 14:6 says, "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Evolution or Creation?

Did we evolve? Did this world appear as some cosmic accident? Or were we created by God? Romans 1:18-21 says,

"18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened." (ESV)

The proof that there is a creator is the existence of creation itself. If you look at a painting, you automatically know that there was a painter. If you look at a building, you know that there was a builder. So, when we look at creation all around us, we know that there was a creator - an intelligent designer. God created us. We did not evolve from monkeys, as some believe. We have similarities simply because we were designed by the same creator.

Try this: Get about 10 rocks and line them up in a perfect row in the middle of a busy sidewalk. I can guarantee you that when somebody walks by and sees the rocks lined up, they'll be thinking, "Now, who lined those rocks up like that?"  They're probably not going to think that it was some cosmic accident or that the rocks just evolved that way. How much more complex is the design of the human eye? The retina of the eye contains about 137 million light-sensitive cells. Why do we have two eyes instead of just one? Did evolution know anything about 3D vision? The only explanation that scientist have is that it took millions of years of evolution and it seems that whenever they can't explain something, they add a few more million years to their  excuse. The earth has been in existence for only 6 to 10 thousand years, but that's a whole other story...

One Of My Favorite Verses: Romans 8:1

"There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Romans 8:1 (ESV) In Christ, we have the freedom of living in the Spirit, free from the sentence of the Law. For the one who is truly saved, this is the joy that he has.

Assurance of Salvation

How do you know that you are saved? One big issue that is plaguing today's Christians is one of assurance. A Christian may be battling assurance of salvation, doubting that he is saved. Why? It could be because we have a strong desire as a Christian to "feel" assured. But what we need to understand is that we do not trust mere feelings. We do not need some cosmic "warm fuzzy" to turn on the light bulb in our spirit so that we know we are saved. We believe that Jesus paid the fine for us on the cross. We repent of our sins and put our total faith in Him. Total faith. Key words, folks. If you are "wobbly" in your faith, ask God to give you faith. Faith needs to come from God. We are not saved on are own. We don't produce genuine saving faith on our own, either. Is there fruit in your life that shows you to be a true and saved Christian? Don't ask yourself, ask your wife, husband, kids, parents, etc. They can tell you whether or not there is fruit in your life. Galatians 5:22 says: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,self-control; against such things there is no law."  Are you battling sin? That's another sign that you are saved. Remember that salvation is based on what Christ did for us, not on anything that we did ourselves. When we are saved, we still sin, but we have a hatred for sin, now. We battle it. We fight it off. We flee from temptation. We don't hang around and think about doing it. We just start running away from it. 2 Timothy 2:22 says: "So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart." Obey God's word and the power of the Spirit. Read your Bible daily and pray until you feel like praying. Thank God for having saved you. Put faith in Him. It's not going to be magnificent and soaring everyday, but submit yourself to prayer and obedient living...and just trust Him.

Stop Feeding The Beast

Luke 9:23 says, “And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” What does this mean? Well, let's take a look. First off, what Jesus says here is addressed to ALL, not just the Twelve Apostles. When he says “Come after me”, he means that we are to become his disciple. A disciple of Jesus must deny himself, not just deny himself certain things, but total personal control of his life. We need to make a commitment that may in fact lead to hardship and even death. Here in America, we think we are persecuted when someone reads our “Christian” T-shirt and throws the F-bomb at us. Yeah, OK. There are people in Sudan getting tortured and killed this minute because they are Christians. That's persecution. Jesus then says, “follow me”. We must follow Jesus' example of how to live 100% for the glory of God. Everything we do MUST be for him, and we must thank him for all things, good or bad.

Luke 14:27 says, “Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.” This condition of discipleship is critical, in that if we have not done this, then we must ask ourselves whether we are a true Christian. Jesus commanded us to repent and put our faith in Him. If we continue to live primarily to satisfy our own fleshly desires, have we really repented? Have we really put ALL of our faith in Him? I think not.

Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:31, “...I die daily”. This is what he's talking about. We don't feed the desires of the beast (or ourselves, the flesh) but rather live totally for God, killing the flesh, in other words. We need to stop living to please ourselves. Everything – every single thing we do must be for the glory of God! We need to embrace God's will, no matter what the cost is. We must not feed the flesh, but give it all up and turn towards God. Have you been feeding the beast?

By the way, what are you doing for God? Have you witnessed to anyone lately? Passed out a Bible tract or two? Given a copy of “Hell's Best Kept Secret” to someone at the park? Called up a family member to share the good news of the Gospel (because you care that he is on his way to hell, and do not care if they get angry with you, if it could mean he'll get saved)?

Pull out your drivers license and check the birth date on it. Subtract your age from, let's say, 80 years. Note how much time you might have to live. Look in the mirror and ask yourself, “What have I done for God so far? How many years have I foolishly wasted?” Use every single minute of your life to do something that glorifies God.

About 150,000 people die every day in this world. How many are dying without Christ this very minute and are on their journey to hell? Don't spend your time “feeding the beast”, but rather use this time for God's work. Well, what are you waiting for?
